CFA AWARD WINNERS


The Commission recognizes there are dedicated individuals and committees that go above and beyond expectations or have developed innovative ways of doing business that deserve special recognition. This awards program is one way of recognizing those individuals for their outstanding contributions to the law enforcement field.

Accreditation Manager and Assessor of the Year Awards

ELIGIBILITY:

  • Member of a law enforcement agency or related organization supporting state accreditation for a minimum of 1 year of the application deadline.
  • Nomination submitted by CEO, member's Supervisor, Commissioner, or Commission staff by deadline.

SELECTION CRITERIA

The Accreditation Manager of the Year Award honors a highly motivated individual who has exhibited the skills to accomplish the agency's goals of achieving state accreditation and all related activities. The nominee's application form, any other submitted materials, and critiques from the agency's onsite, if applicable, will be reviewed in the following areas:

  • Innovation and creativity in achieving significant program or organizational results.
  • Contributions to improving the agency's internal and external services.
  • Demonstrated communication skills and initiative in motivating people to work together for a common goal.
  • Commitment to managing the agency's resources efficiently and effectively increasing stakeholders' confidence in the agency's overall mission.
  • Establishing relationships and promoting cooperation between other Accreditation Managers statewide and in the local area.

2011 Winner: Captain Dean Kelly

The Assessor of the Year Award honors an individual who demonstrates extraordinary support and leadership in furthering the Commission's goals of assessing agencies fairly and effectively. The nominee's application package and assessor critiques will be reviewed in the following areas:

  • Leadership
  • Coaching and mentoring Assessors and Accreditation Managers.
  • Promoting cooperation and communication with candidate agency members, Commission staff, and onsite assessment team members.
  • Quality and consistency of work product.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Commission's principles, goals, and success.

2011 Winner: Major Ron Cave

"Sheriff Neil J. Perry" Service Award

The "Sheriff Neil J. Perry" Service Award honors individuals and work units/teams for outstanding achievement, innovation, creativity, and smart work that measurably increases program efficiency, or furthers Commission goals.

ELIGIBILITY:

  • Any individual or team that is either sanctioned by the Commission or a supporting organization, whose primary purpose is to assist or support the Commission.
  • Activities occurred, originated, or completed within a year of the application deadline.
  • Nomination submitted by CEO, member's Supervisor, Commissioner, or Commission staff by deadline.

2011 Winner: Assistant IG Dean Register

SELECTION CRITERIA:

All nominees (individuals/work groups) will be reviewed in the following areas:

  • Work product provides a significant benefit to all or specific participants in the accreditation program.
  • Provides a valuable contribution toward positive growth of the Commission.
  • Promotes agency participation statewide through "behind-the-scenes" activities.

NOMINATION PACKAGE:

The time frame for the nomination is the previous calendar year. Nominations postmarked, faxed, or emailed by January 17, 2013 will be accepted and reviewed by the Selection Committee prior to the Summer Commission meeting. Honorees will be awarded at the summer meeting. Use the links below to either submit a nomination electronically, or download a copy of the form to fill out and mail in.

Accreditation Manager and Assessor of the Year Awards

ELIGIBILITY:
  • Member of a correctional facility supporting state accreditation for a minimum of 1 year of the application deadline.
  • Nomination submitted by CEO, member's Supervisor, Commissioner, or Commission staff by deadline.

SELECTION CRITERIA

The Accreditation Manager of the Year Award honors a highly motivated individual who has exhibited the skills to accomplish the facility's goals of achieving state corrections accreditation and all related activities. The nominee's application form, other submitted materials, and critiques from the facility's onsite assessment, if applicable, will be reviewed in the following areas:

  • Innovation and creativity in achieving significant program or organizational results.
  • Contributions to improving the facility's provision of services.
  • Demonstrated communication skills and initiative in motivating people to work together for a common goal.
  • Commitment to managing the facility's resources efficiently and effectively increasing stakeholders' confidence in the facility's overall mission.
  • Establishing relationships and promoting cooperation between other Accreditation Managers statewide and in the local area.

2011 Winner: Joanne Figdore

The Assessor of the Year Award honors an assessor who demonstrates extraordinary support and leadership in furthering the Commission's goals of assessing facilities fairly and effectively. The nominee's application package and assessor critiques will be reviewed in the following areas:
