G. Curt Willocks

Chief of Police

Gulfport Police Department

G. Curt Willocks has been the Director of Public Safety and Chief of Police in Gulfport since January of 1991.  In that time, Gulfport Police Department has evolved to a "service oriented" small town police force facing the same challenges as neighboring larger cities and communities.  Gulfport Police Department was initially accredited in 2000 and re-accredited in 2003, becoming the smallest agency in Pinellas County to achieve Florida Accreditation.  Chief Willocks attributes the positive relationships the Police Department has with the citizens to the hard work, dedication and professionalism of the line officers who deliver the service.

Previously Chief Willocks had served 20 years with the Boca Raton Police Department, retiring as Deputy Chief of Police.

Chief Willocks holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice from Florida Atlantic University, is a graduate of the FBI Academy, DEA Academy, Senior Management Institute for Police, Florida Chief Executive Institute and the Secret Service Academy on Dignitary Protection.

Chief Willocks is a past president of the Tampa Bay Area Chief's of Police Association and currently serves on the Board of Directors. He is a past chairman of the Pinellas County Police Standards Council and past Director with the Florida Police Chief's Association. He serves on the Policy Board for the Florida Criminal Justice Executive Institute.
