Ken J. Mascara, Sheriff of St. Lucie County, Florida, is a native Floridian, born in Hollywood, Florida, July 8, 1958. He holds an Associate of Arts/Associate of Science degree from Indian River Community College, Fort Pierce, Florida. He holds a Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Life University, Marietta, Georgia. He has two children. He was elected Sheriff of St. Lucie County in 2000, pledging to be a highly visible sheriff, both within the agency and within the community. In his term as Sheriff, he has fulfilled both commitments, employing his private-sector knowledge and experience to the task of managing the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office.
His honors and affiliations include: 1988 Fraternal Order of Police Lodge No. 110 Citizen of the Year; St. Lucie County Fair Association; Florida Sheriffs Youth ranches Programs Committee, National Sheriffs Association; Director, Exchange Club CASTLE of St. Lucie County; Director of the Hundred Club of St. Lucie County; 2002 Boys Scouts of Americas Gulf Stream Council "Distinguished Citizen Award; 2002 Law Enforcement Officer of the Year, American Legion White City Post 358; May 2003 graduate of U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation Federal Executive Development Seminar; June 2003 member, Treasure Coast Builders Association; Vice Chairman of the St. Lucie County Executive Roundtable; Vice Chairman of Weed and Seed of St. Lucie County; 2004 Law Enforcement Officer of the Year, American Legion White City Post 358. |
