Ms. Gant began her law enforcement career in 1974 at the Fort Pierce (FL) Police Department when she was hired as a jail matron/police dispatcher.  After two years in that position, she was hired as the third woman police officer for that department and sent to the Indian River Regional Police Academy. At the academy, she distinguished herself by being elected President of Class #17, and graduating with honors.

Ms. Gant worked as a police officer with Ft. Pierce Police Department and was also an adjunct instructor at the Indian River Police Academy. In 1979 she was hired by the St. Lucie County (FL) Sheriff’s Office as an investigator. Ms. Gant was selected as the Ft. Pierce Business and Professional Woman of the year.

In 1995, Ms. Gant began working with the Martin County (FL) Sheriff’s Office. She was promoted to Accreditation Manager and also served as Staff Inspector, Grants Manager/Writer, Research and Planner and created the first MCSO Annual Report. She was elected to the Executive Board of Florida Police Accreditation Coalition (FLA-PAC)

In 1998, after a national search, the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA®) hired Ms. Gant as a Program Manager. Her responsibilities included supporting 200 Public Safety agencies in the United States, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean; supporting six Police Accreditation Coalitions (PACs), developing and delivering training at each of the three CALEA conferences per year, and serving on several Task Forces for Standards and Program development and review.

In December of 2005, after a national search, Ms. Gant was selected as the new Executive Director for the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation, Inc.
