INTERGOVERNMENTAL COMMUNICATIONS PLAN

pALM BEACH GARDENS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Palm Beach Gardens Police Department is constantly striving to improve upon their delivery of law enforcement services to the city’s citizens. One project that stands out as innovative and supports the Department's commitment in their efforts to continue to be a progressive agency involves updating an outdated communication system. Law enforcement agencies in Palm Beach County have been plagued with having to use inefficient, outdated dispatch communications equipment. Palm Beach Gardens Police Department, in its effort to improve communication with interacting agencies, has joined the Municipal Public Safety Communications Consortium (MPSCC) of Palm Beach County, Inc. Formed eight years ago through the cooperative efforts of local municipalities, MPSCC is responsible for planning and implementation of an interoperable, countywide public safety radio communications system.

The Palm Beach Gardens Police Department is tasked with project management, and lead agency for all technical issues and implementation. When fully completed, expected in 2008, the Intergovernmental Communications Plan (ICP) will allow eleven (11) current participating local municipalities to communicate statewide via an adaptable and expandable radio network.

Interoperable radio communications are especially critical today and have become a major national and local security issue. Palm Beach Gardens Police Department is proud to be a leader in bringing this technology to employees, citizens and neighbors.
