POLICE TO CITIZEN (p2C) ONLINE REPORT RETRIEVAL SYSTEM

MIRAMAR Police Department

In a commitment to customer service and the citizens of Miramar, the Miramar Police Department is currently working with its Records Management System (RMS) application vendor to complete the installation of a Police to Citizen (P2C) online report retrieval system. This report retrieval system will allow citizens and other involved parties to go online and access report information. They can retrieve information relating to crime statistics, accident reports, incident reports, and view a pin-map of these incidents.

The P2C program provided by Open System Solutions Inc. (OSSI) is a very powerful reporting tool. The system allows people to retrieve the first page of approved reports only. Currently the department does not allow domestic violence incidents, cases involving juveniles, arrest information, or active reports to be published to the P2C system.

The accident report module requires verification to retrieve the report by requesting that specific information be entered to verify the identity of the individual. After the accident report becomes public record, the system automatically removes the verification process from the report so anyone can access it.

Interested persons can also use the pin-mapping features to map out incident reports throughout the city. There are multiple variables allowed to retrieve very specific data, as well. Once they are pin-mapped, address information can be accessed by moving the mouse over each pin. By clicking on the pin the first page of the report can be viewed and/or printed.

Accident reports still require information verification to access the information, as was discussed above. Also the department does not publish arrest information through this system; it only allows a pin to appear to acknowledge that someone was arrested at that location. The system also has a community calendar that is maintained for the citizens of Miramar. It keeps important dates on the calendar, including commission meetings, city holidays, and city events information.
